Hurricane window replacement cost in Florida
We don't publish flat per-window pricing. Anyone who does is either guessing or selling a stripped-down package they hope you'll upgrade later. Here's what actually drives the cost of an impact window project in Florida — so when you compare quotes, you can compare them apples-to-apples.
What drives the price
- Opening size and shape. A 36×60 single-hung is straightforward. An 8-foot picture window, an arched top, or a bay assembly costs more in materials and labor.
- Frame material. Vinyl is the value choice and performs well in inland Florida. Aluminum is required on some coastal addresses. Composite and fiberglass cost more but win on coastal durability and structural strength.
- Glass package. Impact-laminated low-E with a warm-edge spacer is the typical baseline. Argon fill, triple-coated low-E, and acoustic interlayers add cost.
- Design pressure required. Higher elevations, corner openings, and coastal exposure require higher-DP units, which generally cost more.
- Install complexity. Block walls vs. wood frame vs. stucco-over-block. Whether the existing window comes out cleanly or requires frame repair. Whether interior trim is involved.
- Permits and inspection. Permit fees vary by jurisdiction. We include them in the quote.
- Disposal and cleanup. Old window disposal, lead-paint protocols on pre-1978 homes, and stucco patching add line items.

When you collect quotes, look for: per-opening line items (not a single blob), the specific product line and Florida Product Approval number, the glass package, the frame material, who pulls the permit, who handles disposal, and the written warranty. A higher quote with all of those itemized often costs less in total than a cheaper quote that quietly omits half of them.
Insurance offset
Don't forget the wind-mitigation credit. On many coastal Florida policies, full opening protection knocks a real chunk off the wind portion of the premium. Over 10–15 years, that can pay back a meaningful portion of the upfront cost. See our wind mitigation guide for how the credit works.
Common questions
- We don't, and we're suspicious of anyone who does. Two openings of the same nominal size on the same house can differ by hundreds of dollars based on frame condition, anchoring, glass package, and code requirements. We measure every opening before quoting.
- For a typical 1,800–2,400 sq ft block home with 10–15 openings, full impact replacement commonly lands somewhere in the mid-five-figure range. Lower-end frame and glass packages, fewer openings, or simpler installs come in below; coastal addresses, custom shapes, premium frames, or many large openings push above.
- On coastal addresses with high wind premiums, the wind-mitigation credit can pay back a meaningful portion of the upgrade over the life of the windows. Inland, the credit is smaller. We'll be honest about which category you fall in.
- We can connect you with third-party financing partners. We'll never pressure you into a financing decision during the in-home visit.
